Borneo Sabah Route

Destinations : Sepilok Rainforest, Sukau Kinabatangan River, Tabin Wildlife Reserve, Danum Valley.

Upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, drive to the Sepilok Nature Lodge, nestled amidst the lush Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. The following days offers a rich itinerary: morning birding at the Rainforest Discovery Centre, renowned for its canopy walkway and diverse avian species; visits to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, the world’s oldest and largest orangutan rehabilitation center and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of the smallest bear species. The day concludes with a night walk at the Rainforest Discovery Centre, providing a glimpse into the nocturnal wonders of the Bornean rainforest.

The journey continues with a transfer to Sukau, stopping en route at the Gomantong Caves, famed for their intricate limestone formations and swiftlet nests. In Sukau, take on evening and subsequent day cruises along the Kinabatangan River, Sabah’s longest river, offering opportunities to observe diverse wildlife, including proboscis monkeys and pygmy elephants.

The adventure proceeds with an overland transfer to Tabin Wildlife Resort for a full day of birding in one of Sabah’s largest wildlife reserves. The tour culminates at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Danum Valley, where a full day is dedicated to birding in this pristine primary rainforest, home to a vast array of endemic species.

The experience concludes with a transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for onward journeys.
