Pristine Primary Rainforest Exploration Tawau Hills Park offers an unparalleled encounter with Borneo’s lowland and montane biodiversity. The park is a majestic sanctuary dominated by ancient dipterocarp forest and giant flora, providing a dramatic backdrop for serious birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Beyond the record-breaking trees, the landscape is defined by tranquil river systems and hidden sulfur hot springs, creating a raw wilderness experience far from the common tourist routes.
A Haven for Endemic Birdlife For birdwatchers and photography enthusiasts, this site is a premier destination to document specialized Bornean species. The undisturbed canopy is a thriving habitat for the legendary Bornean Bristlehead, several species of Hornbills, and the vibrant Blue-banded Pitta. Our trails are carefully selected to maximize sightings of these avian treasures, including the Great Argus and Bornean Ground Cuckoo, allowing you to observe their behavior in one of the most stable ecosystems in Southeast Asia.
The Nocturnal Wilderness As darkness falls, the forest transforms into a hotspot for nocturnal wildlife sightings. Our guided night safaris offer a high probability of encountering Borneo’s secretive forest cats, including the Clouded Leopard and the Marbled Cat, which are often spotted along the park’s interior roads. Alongside these predators, you will discover a fascinating array of endemic amphibians and nocturnal birds like Owls and Frogmouths, making this tour a comprehensive 24-hour immersion into the heart of the Bornean jungle.
